Created in 2012 in Sydney by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams, Can go is an online graphic design platform that offers the user a multitude of graphic options, templates and prefabricated designs.
History of the site
The idea for the site came about when Perkins was teaching design and graphic design at University of Western Australia the latter found that these students have difficulty learning the basics of design by adobes software and others so he started by developing the famous platform for e-book design Fusion Books with his friend Obrecht and then Canva in partnership with another specialist in the field who is Camerone Adams.
2013 is a critical year in the site’s history, the launch of the Beta product: a simple drag and drop tool with a library of over a million photographs, graphics and fonts to choose from. This product has become widely used by professionals, the press and simple web users, which increased the site’s notoriety and the number of users to 750,000 users. Thus, it has become one of the best Photoshop alternatives.
In 2014, the former head of Apple Kawasaki said in a press release that: If Google democratizes information and EBay democratizes commerce, then Canva is the platform that democratized design.
