If you have a PC with Windows installed and you are interested in understanding how to burn movies on DVD, the first program I recommend you try is Freemake Video Converteran excellent free video converter that combines incredible ease of use with a bunch of interesting advanced features, such as the one that allows you to convert DivX, MP4 files and other types of video to DVD compatible with all living room players (complete with menu, if desired).

To download it to your computer, click here to link to its website then click the button Free download present in the center of the screen and wait for the software download to start and complete.

When the download is complete, double click on the file FreemakeVideoConverterSetup.exe just got it and first click on Yup and then up Okay And Come on. The program inserts a watermark and a frame with its logo at the beginning and end of the converted videos: to remove them, you need to subscribe to a 9.95 euro/year subscription or buy a one-time 19.95 euro license.

Free Video to DVD Converter is another free software to burn DVD movies from videos in various formats.

To download it to your PC, click here to immediately connect to its website and click on the button Download. When the download is complete, double-click on it to open the file you just downloaded (FreeVideoToDVDConverter.exe) after which click first Okay and then up Come on.

Then wait for some components necessary for the program to be downloaded from the Internet and complete the setup by always clicking on Come on. But be careful: during the installation process you will be offered to download some additional promotional software. To avoid them all, check the options I do not accept And Custom installation and remove it from all the others.

At this point, check that the green bar located at the bottom, the one that indicates the DVD’s fill status, hasn’t exceeded the limit and click on the button Create DVDs to start converting video to DVD. In the window that opens, leave the check mark next to the item Start the DVD burner and wait for a user command and click on Keep on.

When the conversion is complete, the burning utility included in Free Video to DVD Converter will open automatically. Then insert a blank DVD into your computer’s burner, if you want set the disc write speed in the Options… of the program, and click on the button Burn to start the actual DVD creation.

If, on the other hand, you have a Mac and you are interested in understanding what operations to perform in order to burn movies on DVD, you must first of all convert the videos into MPG format using any free software suitable for the purpose, such as Total Video Converter Lite and copy the final result onto a floppy disk. To do this, I suggest you use Burnan excellent free burning application (which hasn’t been updated for a while but still works).

To download Total Video Converter Lite, go to the Mac App Store by clicking here, to download Burn, connect to the program’s website by pressing here and first clicking on the icon Downloads located at the bottom left and then on the entry Download Burn. Once the download is complete, select the Burn icon and drag it into the folder Applications d OS X to install the software on your computer.

At this point, open Total Video Converter Lite, drag the video to burn to DVD into the program window and select the format PAL video DVDs as the output format.

Once the conversion is complete, launch Burn, select the tab Video from the main program window and set the option DVD-video in the drop-down menu located at the top right. Then drag the videos obtained with Total Video Converter into the Burn window and press the button Burn to complete the operation.

I want to let you know that Burn also includes a function for converting video to DVD. However, the latter doesn’t always give good results and it doesn’t work with all video files that are found on the Internet nowadays (for example, it doesn’t read MKV files). For this reason, I recommend that you use Total Video Converter or another external converter and let Burn only burn the videos to DVD. Then, of course, the choice is up to you.

Roxio Toast Titanium

If, on the other hand, you are willing to spend some “change” and buy commercial software, you can burn movies to DVD from your Mac using Roxio Toast Titanium. Unfortunately, its price is not very accessible (89.99 euros) and it is not possible to try it for free, but it is difficult to find more complete burning software than it.

It is in fact a program that can easily be defined as Nero for OS X. In fact, it represents a real burning suite thanks to which it is possible to create any type of CD, DVD and Blu-Ray. The program also offers advanced multimedia functions for editing and converting videos. Thanks to Roxo Toast Titanium it is also possible to create videos for iPhone, iPad and other portable devices, share videos on social networks, record what happens on the computer screen and much more. In short, it lacks absolutely nothing!
