Download iTunes for macOS
As I told you in the introduction of this article, if you have a Mac you shouldn’t need to download iTunes, as the application is integrated “standard” in macOS. However, if by any chance you uninstalled it and now want to reinstall it, let me explain how to do it depending on the version of macOS you’re using.
If you are using macOS 10.15 Catalina or a later version of Apple’s operating system, iTunes is not available and cannot be downloaded, as it has been “deconstructed” into applications Music, Podcasts And TV (with iOS/iPadOS device management “hijacked” to the Finder).
However, if your Mac is updated to macOS 10.14 Mojave, know that the version by default is present on the latter 12.9.x of iTunes, which is not currently available for download in package form .dmg. This means that the only possible way to restore this version of iTunes is to do a full system restore by the use of Time Machine or via the macOS reinstall function included in Recovery. For more information on what to do, take a look at the guides in which I explain in detail how Time Machine works and how to restore macOS.
If you’re still using a version of macOS equal to or earlier than 10.13 High Sierra, you can easily download the iTunes installer from Apple’s website. Connect, therefore, to this Web page and press the blue button Downloads that appears in the center of the page, in order to download the latest “independent” version of iTunes currently available, i.e. the 12.8.
Once the download is complete, open the file iTunes12.8.dmg that you obtained from the Apple site and, in the window that opens, double-click on Install iTunes to start the program installation process. Then follow the simple instructions that appear on the screen (just always press the button Come onenter the password macOS user account and restart your Mac when prompted) and you’re done. The next time you start your system, iTunes will be ready to use again.
