You have just bought your first Apple-branded mobile device, a trusted friend has told you that for optimal management of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch it is essential install iTunes on your computer and you have no idea how to do it? If the answer is “yes” I am pleased to announce that you have come to the right place, or rather on the right guide. In fact, in the following lines I will illustrate everything that is necessary to do in order to install iTunes on your computer and to be able to use it without problems coupled with your iDevice.
Before explaining how to install iTunes, however, I want you to clarify your ideas about the nature of this program. If you weren’t aware of it, know that iTunes is the default multimedia player for Apple products as well as the store through which it is possible to purchase multimedia content for Apple devices. It is then the software that allows you to manage all the iPhones, iPads and iPods. On systems Mac OS X iTunes is pre-installed, su Windows PCs but not.
Having made this clear, if you are therefore interested in finding out how to install iTunes on your computer, I suggest you give yourself a few minutes of free time, get comfortable and concentrate carefully on reading this guide. I’m sure that in the end you will be satisfied and that you will also be ready to say that installing iTunes was actually a real piece of cake.
How to Install iTunes on Windows PC
If you have a Windows PC and you are interested in understanding how to install iTunes, the first thing you need to do is to connect to the Web page dedicated to the famous program so that you can download it. To do this click here and then press the blue button Download which is located in the upper right corner.
In the new page that is shown to you at this point, click on the blue button Downloads present at the bottom right and wait for the download procedure to start and complete. If you wish before clicking the button Downloads you can remove the check marks from the items under the text iTunes downloads indicated the possibility of receiving information about news and promotions on iTunes and other Apple-branded products directly to your e-mail account.
Once the download is complete, open the file by double clicking on it iTunesSetup.exe just downloaded and, in the window that opens, click on Come on and then specify if you intend to have a shortcut to the program added to your desktop, if you want iTunes to become the default media player on your computer and if you prefer iTunes and other Apple products installed on your PC to be automatically updated by leaving or removing the check mark from the boxes located next to the related items (personally I suggest you leave all the settings as they are!). Then press on Installthen up Yup twice consecutively and finally click on the button end.
Done! At this point you can already say that satisfied: you managed to install iTunes on your Windows PC and now you can start using it without problems. To do this, wait for the license agreement window to appear on the desktop, then press the button I accept and wait a few more moments for the player window to open.
Now that you see the iTunes window on your desktop proceed to click the button I accept placed under the inscription Welcome then start using the Apple multimedia player as I explained in my guide on how to use iTunes. For the future, however, you can access iTunes by double-clicking on the appropriate link added to the desktop or by pressing the button starttyping itunes in the search field displayed and then clicking on the first result in the list.
Also keep in mind that after installing iTunes on your computer, updates for the program may be released from time to time. To check the availability of opts you can act indie different ways. A first system, the more practical one, provides for the automatic download and installation of updates while the second system provides for the “manual” download and installation of updates.
If you are interested in installing iTunes updates automatically, start the player, press the icon representing a window located in the upper left part of the program screen, press the item Preferences… attached to the menu that is shown to you, click on the tab Advance and make sure that on the box next to the item Automatically check for new software updates there is a check mark. Otherwise, check the box. In this way, every time the program is started, the availability of any updates will be checked automatically without you having to lift a finger.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to install iTunes updates yourself, press the button starttype apple software update in the search field that appears and then click on the first result in the list. Then wait for the Apple utility window to search for updates of the bitten apple products in use on the computer to be visible on the desktop, after which, if any item is present, indicate the availability of a new update in the section Updates which is placed at the top click on the button Update. Otherwise press the button Go out.
Install iTunes on Mac OS X
As I have already mentioned in the previous lines, if you own a Mac you have no need to find out how to install iTunes since the latter is the default player on your computer and from the moment you turn it on for the first time it is already included in OS X .
To be able to use iTunes on Mac you just need to press the icon of the program that is attached to Docks (this is the circular icon depicting a musical note) or on the one present in the launchpad. Alternatively, you can launch iTunes by going to Spotlight after clicking on the icon representing a magnifying glass located in the upper right part of the menu bar, typing itunes in the search field that is shown to you and then double-clicking on the first result in the list, the one located under the item The best.
Once these steps have been carried out, you will see the iTunes window appear on the desktop and you can immediately start using the famous program by following the instructions in my guide on how to use iTunes that I pointed out to you in the previous lines, when I explained how to install iTunes on Windows PCs. As far as updates are concerned, keep in mind that their possible availability on Mac OS X can be verified in two different ways. A first system involves the use of the appropriate functionality integrated in iTunes while a second system involves the use of Mac App Store.
To check for the availability of new iTunes updates to be installed using the appropriate program feature, start the player on your Mac, press the item iTunes present in the upper left part of the menu bar and then clicccc on the item Check for updates…. In case an update is available to install, you will be presented with a simple wizard to do this. Otherwise you will see a message appear on the desktop indicating that the version of iTunes you are using is the most up-to-date.
If, on the other hand, you are interested in understanding how to install iTunes updates via the Mac App Store, press its icon which is attached to the Docks (this is the circular icon depicting a stylized letter “A”) or on the one present in the launchpad. Alternatively, you can launch the Mac App Store by signing in to Spotlight after clicking on the icon representing a magnifying glass located in the upper right part of the menu bar, typing mac app store in the search field that is shown to you and then double-clicking on the first result in the list, the one located under the item The best. Then he presses on the item Updates located in the upper right part of the window that is shown to you and wait for the check for the availability of any updates to be started and completed.
Later, if updates are available for the player, you can press the appropriate button at the top right to install iTunes by immediately downloading the most updated version of the same. Otherwise, just close the Mac App Store window by pressing the appropriate button with the x located in the upper left part of the displayed window.
